1. 21st Annual Huntsville Half-Marathon and Heroes Run 5K

The 21st edition of the Huntsville Half takes place on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 8:00 am. The course is a relatively flat out-and-back course that starts and finishes at the Hillwood Baptist Church. T-shirts and medallions awarded to finishers.

2. Toys for Tots at The Storage Neighbor

The Storage Neighbor would like to announce our annual Toys for Tots campaign this month. You can drop off a toy at any of our locations in Alabama.

3. Galaxy of Nights Walking Nights

Don’t miss this Holiday tradition – a favorite among Huntsville Botanical Garden members! Galaxy of Lights is a magnificent mile and a half-long holiday light extravaganza featuring larger-than-life animated light displays. Nov 20-24 and an all new dog walking night on Monday, Nov 23.

4. Huntsville Swing Dance

Check out the Huntsville Swing Dance Society’s November Dance featuring Miss Tess and the Bon Ton Parade. Miss Tess and her band bring an incredible mix of fast, exciting music mixed, with slow, sultry swing. Nov. 21, 2009 7-11 pm. Admission: $10 / $7 Students

5. Nall – “Out the Box” in Decatur

An exhibit exploring symbolism and surrealism with no boundaries in the infamous style of Alabama native and internationally known artist, Nall. Presented by the Carnegie Visual Arts Center from Nov. 5-28, admission is free.

6. Huntsville Havoc Home Games

Check out this months Havoc’s home games at the Von Braun Center. 11/6 vs. Columbus, 11/7 vs. Knoxville, 11/14 vs. Pensacola, 11/26 vs. Louisiana and 11/28 vs. Knoxville.

7. Spirit Stroll in Madison

Every first Saturday of the month (Nov. 7) after the Madison Street Festival take a free guided stroll through the historical district of Madison. Dressed in a top hat and frock coat, SA Hale presents some of the more unique, strange, and telling happenstances of the community. The tour starts at Hale Fire Glass, 112 Main Street at 7 pm.

8. ‘Christmas Belles’s @ Theatre Huntsville

A church Christmas pageant spins wildly out of control as three sisters try to reign in the mayhem. Amidst an ailing Santa, a vengeful sheep, and a reluctant Elvis impersonator, a family secret emerges that just might derail the entire production. November 13-14 & 19-21 @ 7:30 pm & November 15 & 21 @ 2 pm. $17 for Adults. $15 for Students/Seniors.

9. Monkeyspeak

Monkeyspeak, at Flying Monkey Arts on Nov. 6th at 8:30 pm, is Huntsville’s most exciting spoken word open-mic night, held the first Friday of every month. Readers of poetry, short stories and more are invited to participate.

10. SportsMED High School Basketball Shootout

16 of the best high school basketball teams from the area including Bob Jones and Huntsville meet on Thanksgiving Weekend at the Von Braun Center in the SportsMed Shootout. Tickets are $5. $3 discount for students.
